An artistic and very unusual pinfrom the Art Nouveau (ca19o0) era! This unique piece piece is made of hand-carved horn, forming the shape of an elaborate winged insect. The pin is particularly large in size and wonderfully detailed, exhibiting carved texture on the front surface and slight variations in color to depict the bug's body, wings, and antennae. All four of thewings are elongated and semitranslucent, giving the piece a layered look. Attached to the back of the pieceis a silver bar pin and "c" catch clasp, allowing it to be easily fastened to a favorite garment. The word " LAMAND PARIS" have been hand-carved into the reverse side of the pin. A marvelous and lightweight Art Nouveau piece, its unusual design has a verystriking appearance when worn. It is sure tomake a very special and one-of-a-kind addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: Thepin has a wingspan measuring3 1/8" wide. The insect's body is 1" tall and 1/4" thick. The total weight of the piece is 3.9 grams.
Condition: The overall condition of the pinis excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the carved horn, and the silver bar pin and clasp is secure and in good working condition.
